Lee Brice Wins Single Record of the Year With ‘I Don’t Dance’ at 2015 ACM Awards

Lee Brice won the ACM’s coveted Single Record of the Year Award with his emotional love song “I Don’t Dance” at the ACM Awards ceremony over the weekend. Brice wrote the touching tune for his first dance with wife Sara at their wedding.

Brice was competing against Kenny Chesney’s “American Kids,” Miranda Lambert‘s “Automatic,” Dierks Bentley‘s “Drunk on a Plane” and Florida Georgia Line‘s “Dirt.”

After being crowned the winner, Brice leaned over and gave his wife a tender kiss. He humbly accepted the award with a smile on his face. “Wow,” Brice said as he looked out at the packed audience. “Well, this is my first time in this moment like this, and I just gotta say thank you to my wife for inspiring a song for our first dance at our wedding. So Sara, thank you so much for being so amazing all the time and letting me do what I love and taking care of our children.” He also thanked his fans, management and record label. “This is insane,” Brice noted with a smile.

Brice’s wedding anniversary is Monday (April 20), and he said that winning would be a “pretty good anniversary gift,” also joking that he didn’t have a backup plan in case he lost. Good thing he didn’t.
