Lee Brice Surprises Military Widow With Her Late Husband's Truck

Apr 7 | Posted by: Lee Brice

Lee Brice surprised Ginger Gurley Gilbert Ravella and her family with her late husband's 1992 Chevy Silverado 1500 truck during Saturday's ACM Party for a Cause festival in Vegas. Troy Gilbert, an F-16 pilot, passed on November, 27, 2006 during his deployment in Iraq. Ginger first heard Lee's song "I Drive Your Truck" last year when he performed a benefit concert for Folds of Honor, a non-profit that provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or disabled veterans. The song spoke volumes to Ginger, as it reminded her of Troy's old truck, wishing she could find it.

"Troy traded in his old beloved truck for a new one about a month before he found out he was deploying," Ginger said. When Lee first heard of Ginger's story, the search for Troy's old truck began. Lee, his management team, and friends of the Ravella family searched until they found the Chevy Silverado. Lee purchased it, repaired it, shipped it to Las Vegas and presented it to the family during his performance.

"Troy paid the ultimate price in service to our country and I'm grateful we got to show our appreciation in a small way," Brice expressed.
